we are looking into film trailers and their conventions.
the genre of film we are studying is horror, many horror films posses many conventions that contribute to the definition of the word horror for example many horror films may have religious symbols in them such as bibles, crosses, churches and other religious aspects.
The use of colour also tends to be a key convention when looking at horror films, red, black and occassionaly green is used alot in horror films this maybe something i will need to consider when making my own horror film trailer.
location is another important factor, i have noticed that when looking at the location used in horror films, the whole use of a good location is to make the film seem scary, for example churches, big victorian houses and dark parks are good starting blocks for when im planning on making my trailer.
good examples of horror films to spot conventions from would be:
  • The Omen
  • Halloween
  • Friday the 13th
